A Summary of 2017-2018

Another fantastic year for us, new memebers to teach us, new events to learn from, and tons of new songs to play with. Welcoming Tigga Goode on vocals, and Katie Harris in percussion, also Amanda’s beautiful baby boy Eden. Barry introduced his handmade Giant Gong, and Girish met the Queen at a Buckingham Palace tea party for his contributions towards the sommunity, we expect to see her playing Tabla any time soon.

Starting with The Night of the Thin Veil, an interfaith festive event at St Laurence Church in Stroud, we celebrated the Celtic new year, Diwali, All Souls, Samhain, & full moon, with food, music, and a mesmerising light installation.

Our next big event was in celebration of St Patrick at our usual Trinity Rooms Venue, giving us an excuse to try out some new progressive celtic material, and wear green.

During spring we played at a series of mini events; Hawkwood Open Day, Gloucester Cathedral FestivAll, and Solidarity with Samos at Star Anise Cafe.  Each event enique in its significance took us to new exciting venues, and out of our comfort zones.  Teaching us more about ourselves as a band, and how our music reaches out in connotation with matters importnt to us, and the wider communities.

In the build up to the Sacred Music Fesitval we began work with musician, and composer Matthew Heyse-Moore to create two new pieces of specially composed unifying chants expressing the message of Peace and Unity.  Matthew’s creation weaved phrases from varoius religions and traditions with our backing music, joined by singers from Stroud’s varoius choirs, and other musicians perfroming at the festival.  Together we opened the festival with intent, and bought the evening to a close with the audiance joining in, fading to medative silence.  Matthew will hopefully be working with us in the coming year to develop our music and bring some exciting new ideas into the fold.

We’ll be taking a break for summer but will be back in the Autumn ready for another year of fun, music and some really exciting projects.
